A new neighborhood to open-up the site, for a better connection with Paris
Project?
Charenton-Bercy masterplan is an energy efficient neighborhood designed to open-up an isolated industial area of Eastern Paris : where the Seine crosses the Periphérique motorway. To reconnect the site with its surroundings, two main axes are created : city-to-city from Paris to Charenton and park-to-river from the Bois de Vincennes to the Seine. Three garden bridges are created while an artificial topography prevents from occasional river floodings. A landmark is designed to address the city scale : Tour Metropole. The 220m mixed-use tower with suspended gardens is in dialogue with three other main features : a halo-shaped "digital hub", a converted historic building as "virtual universe cluster" and a new RER station.
Responsibilities?
Skills : Understanding the client's requirements and expectations, liaise designs options between the architecture team and urban design team, specify the sustainability strategies both at district and tower scale and liaise with the engineering team at SOM Chicago, find solutions to integrate the tower and link the various topographic levels of the masterplan, explore design solutions for the tower : typical layouts, core and garden positions.
Production : Communicate the sustainability strategies in graphics, organise the design books and competition boards, produce various plans, diagrams and axons, model-making, translate presentations and reports to the client.
